Bayelsans Welcomes Gov. Diri, As He Ends 3-Weeks Annual Leave
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has returned from his three weeks annual leave after being refreshed and energized to continue with the mantle of leadership of the state bestowed on him by Bayelsans.
The governor in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr Daniel Alabrah, on Monday, 16th December, 2024, said Governor Diri has ended his three weeks annual leave, and will resume officially on Tuesday, 17th December, 2024.
Recall that the governor went on three weeks annual leave on Monday, 25th November, 2024, giving the mantle of leadership of the state to his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo as Acting Governor.
Hot News reports that the governor was warmly welcomed at the Bayelsa international airport by his deputy, speaker and members of the state assembly, state executive council members, and other top government functionaries.
Governor Diri who was massively received by traditional rulers, leaders, stakeholders, women and youth bodies, thanked Bayelsans for their continuous support to the prosperity government over the years, which is a driving force of the government.
While commending the deputy governor and other top government functionaries for the smooth running of the government on his absence, the governor said there was no vacuum in the governance of the state for the three weeks period he was on annual leave.
“Even if I was away, the government was running because the deputy governor was in charge, and I have come to continue in delivering good governance to our people,” he added.
The state helmsman pointed out that his administration remains steadfast and committed to its socio-economic contract with the people of the state in delivering projects and policies that will impact positively in the lives of the people.
