Blackout: Bagou Commends Bayelsa Govt, Assures Bayelsans Power Restoration
The Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hot News, Comrade Preye Bagou, has commended the Bayelsa State Government for working round the clock to restore power in the state.
Bagou made the commendation when he visited the various locations of the re-erection and rehabilitation of 19 towers that were vandalized by criminals few months ago, in Akobe and Mbiama axis of Rivers State.
The vandalization of the towers owned and managed by the federal government through Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), led to the blackout in Bayelsa state that has kept Bayelsans and residents in darkness for over three months.
The blackout in Bayelsa state has created so much public concern and criticism against the state government, despite the fact that the erection and rehabilitation of towers is a sole responsibility of the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
The Hot News manager who joined other journalists on site inspection facilitated by a aide to the Governor on Public Affairs, Snr Comrade Wisdom Ikuli, condemned in strong terms of the vandalization of the towers that led to the blackout.
While commending the workers for the tremendous progress made in the rehabilitation of the 19 towers, Bagou called on security operatives, community and youth leaders in the areas to safeguard the towers to prevent further vandalization.
He condemned the negligence of the federal government in providing the necessary funds for the re-erection and rehabilitation of the vandalized towers that has kept Bayelsans and residents in darkness for months.
Considering the level of progress made so far, in the re-erection and rehabilitation of the 19 towers, Bagou assured the general public of power restoration in the state within the shortest period of time.
