Dickson, Family Attends Bayelsa State 13th Annual Thanksgiving
Former Governor of Bayelsa State and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, accompanied by family members attended the Bayelsa State Annual Thanksgiving.
The federal lawmaker made this known through his official facebook handle, described the thanksgiving programme as a thing of joy that he conceived under his administration as governor, which he believe was an idea sanctioned by God.
Senator Dickson reiterating the beginning of the thanksgiving programme, which was instituted not just as a policy of the government, but as a law of the state, said he marked the thanksgiving programme for eight years as governor, and his successor has continued with it.
Being the 13th edition of the state annual thanksgiving programme, he congratulated the state government and the people for marking the thanksgiving yearly, in appreciating God for His mercies and blessings upon the state over the years.
The former state helmsman said he is happy that all the religious ordinances that he started as governor are continued by successor, ranging from morning devotion, monthly praise night, annual thanksgiving, state’s memory verse.
“I am delighted seeing that all the religious ordinances are continued, including the ecumenical center is standing tall as a reminder of the state government submission to God Almighty from whom all powers flow.
While thanking those who came to support the state in the thanksgiving programme, Senator Dickson once again congratulated all Bayelsans, and prayed that God should accept the offers of the thanksgiving.
The statement read in parts: “I and my family are here in Bayelsa State to support the governor and government of the State to participate in today’s thanksgiving service.
“It is a thing of joy that the programme that I envisioned which I believe was an idea sanctioned by God; First the idea of toiling to build the ecumenical center in a period of recession and the courage to progress with it, complete and commission it and secondly, the idea of instituting the thanksgiving, not just as a policy but as a law of the state. While I was here as governor, we marked this thanksgiving for 8 years and today my successor has continued with it.
“Being the 13th edition, I am happy and I congratulate the State government and the people; I thank God for His mercies, blessing and all He has done and by so doing pray to God to continue to answer all other prayers that we may all have as a State, as a people and even as individuals.
“I am also happy that all the religious ordinances that we started are going on: the morning devotion, the monthly praise night, the annual thanksgiving, the state’s memory verse, all those are ordinances God used us to institute and I am delighted seeing that they are all going on and the ecumenical center is standing tall as a reminder of our submission to God Almighty from whom all powers flow.
“I congratulate all Bayelsans and pray that God should accept our offer of thanksgiving. I thank all those who came to join me and other leaders to support the state.
