Gov. Diri Receives PAP Boss, Dr. Otuaro In Govt. House

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, received in courtesy visit of the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro in Government House, Yenagoa.

The courtesy visit of the amnesty programme boss, was to seek collaboration and partnership with the state government to expand the presidential amnesty programme by including the empowerment of old men and women in the programme.

The inclusion of old men and women in the presidential amnesty programme, is borne out of the great need towards addressing the challenges of the Niger Deltan population, most especially the issue of poverty, as a major challenge.

In his remarks, Governor Diri appreciated the presidential amnesty programme boss, Dr. Otuaro for the timely courtesy visit to collaborate with the state government in creating modalities towards addressing challenges facing the region.

“The Bayelsa State Government will work collectively with the office of the presidential amnesty programme for the sole interest of our region in tackling poverty, hunger and wants, as we have experienced in recent times,” Governor Diri added.

The state helmsman pointed out the important need to revamp the Kaiama Skill Acquisition Centre, as an establishment for the training of teeming youths in the region in various skills to be productive and useful assets in society.

“Our region is faced with a lot of challenges that we must work together unanimously in addressing these challenges for the betterment of our people,” he added.

In his remarks, the amnesty boss, Dr. Otuaro commended the governor and the government for the laudable infrastructural development in the state, which has tremendously changed the looks of the state for the betterment of the population.

He further appreciated the governor and the government’s commitment and readiness to work with the presidential amnesty programme office in addressing the challenges of the people of the Niger Delta.

The amnesty boss commended the governor for sustaining peace and stability in the state over the years, adding that it’s quite impressive and commendable as a government.
