Dickson Receives Ex-VP Atiku Over D-Gov’s Death
Former governor of Bayelsa State and serving Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, received a high-powered delegation led by former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at Abuja residence.
H.E Atiku, who led a high-powered delegation of prominent leaders, visited Senator Dickson to condole with him and his family over the passing of his friend, Dr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who collapsed and died on Thursday, 11 Dec, 2025.
Hot News gathered that the former vice president, who spoke very well of the personality of Dr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, expressed sadness over the shocking sudden passing of the Bayelsa number-two man.
He prayed to God to give the deputy governor’s family, Senator Dickson and his family, and other affected persons the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, and prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest.
In response, Senator Dickson expressed profound gratitude to Alhaji Atiku and his entourage for finding time to visit to sympathize with him and his family despite his very tight and busy schedule.
He thankfully pledged to convey their condolences to the family of Dr. Ewhrudjakpo, noting that he will as well inform them of the burial programme once it has been fixed to enable any of them that wish to participate to pay their last respect.
The statement read in parts:
“I received Waziri Adamawa, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and a notable Nigerian political leader, who, with his team, visited me to offer condolences to me and the family of Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo over his sudden passing.
“He spoke very well of the character and consistency of Lawrence, whom he knew a little through me, and he expressed his sadness and heartfelt sense of loss, coming to identify with me and the family over the tragedy.
“Prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the late Deputy Governor, and a minute of silence was observed in his honour. Waziri also prayed for fortitude for the family and all of us to bear the irreparable loss, and for God to grant his soul eternal rest.
“In response, I thanked him for finding time, despite his very tight and busy schedule, to visit with his entourage made up of very notable leaders including Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, Senator Ehigie Uzamere and others.
“I pledged to convey their condolences to the family and also said I would inform them once the burial programme has been fixed, to enable any of them who wish to participate to pay their last respects.
“As I have said, Lawrence’s loss is irreplaceable. He was a loyal, hardworking, and dependable ally, and this mixture is very difficult to find, especially in Nigerian politics.
“Waziri himself knows that loyalty is a scarce commodity, and that amplifies the sense of loss to me, to the family, and to the state.
“I thank Waziri for coming. His visit, together with the visits of other notable leaders, is a reminder that the loss is not ours alone and that our pain is felt by others too. Once again, I thank him for finding time to visit.
