I’m Still In PDP, Monitoring Developments – Dickson
Former governor of Bayelsa State and serving Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has dismissed reports circulating on the media alleging his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Senator Dickson, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said he remains a committed and dedicated member of the party but keenly observing and monitoring political developments in the party.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Media Assistant, Mr Ajiri Daniel, the federal lawmaker dismissing the alleged defection reports, said he remains a committed member of the PDP, and hasn’t defected to any political party for record purposes.
The former governor clarified that he is currently mourning, following the death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who was a friend and brother, and political ally, mentee.
He said as a sign of respect for his departed friend, he has stepped back from political activities since the death of the deputy governor, and has only been receiving condolence visits from friends, political leaders, and sympathizers all over Nigeria.
“These visitors coming to condole with me, are political leaders from different political parties cutting across the country, and persons from all spheres of life,” he added.
Senator Dickson stated that he is keenly following developments in the political system, that he will consult widely with friends, political allies across the country before taking any decision which will be formally announced, after the burial of D-Gov.
“But in the meantime, I still remain a key leader in the PDP, hoping that the party will get it or act right in view of its long-lasting legacy contributions to the Nigerian political system,” he added.
The former state helmsman urged PDP members, supporters, and the general public to disregard the reports, describing it as fake news to deliberately mislead the public, noting that the public should only rely on informations from his verified communication channels.
