The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has commended the massive defections of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including other political parties to the party across Nigeria.

Senator Dickson, who commended Nigerians, particularly the good people of Bayelsa, for joining the NDC by registering en masse, and decamping from APC, PDP, and other political parties, said the NDC stands as a platform to rescue their various states, and deepen democracy.

He commended massive turnouts of members during the commissioning of the NDC Ekeremor, Sagbama, and Kolokuma-Opokuma secretariats, including elders, youths and women of Ofoni community for standing with their late illustrious son, Dr. E-Lawrenzi in supporting the NDC.

The NDC national leader formally receiving Hon. Selekebina Saboh, a former stalwart of the APC, and erstwhile Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Council, and Hon. Wilson Ayakpo Dauyegha, a former stalwart of the APC, and erstwhile member of the Bayelsa state house of assembly, who joined the NDC.

Senator Dickson thanked the party national chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, the state chairman, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, and other party executives, including youths, women and elders, especially Elder Fyneman Wilson, Dr. Osusu Osusu, and Hon. Suru Oyarede for attending the event.

He thanked both leaders, and their teaming supporters of over ten thousand, as well as the good people of Bayelsa, for defying the heavy rain to officially join Nigeria’s ideological party (NDC) in service to the people.

Hotnews quote Dickson, who made this known through his official facebook handle, and it read in parts: “Today was a continuation of the massive decampings into the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) since we announced the party four weeks ago. I thank all Nigerians, and more particularly my good people of Bayelsa, as they join the rest of the country in registering en masse and decamping from the APC, PDP and other parties to the NDC to rescue their various states and deepen Nigeria’s democracy.

“Today’s turnout was truly massive and impressive. I commend the people of Ekeremor LGA for opening their secretariat last week. I also commend the elders, youths and women of Ofoni community for standing with their late illustrious son, Dr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, to support the NDC. I thank them for their words of appreciation.

“Few days ago, Sagbama and Kolokuma/Opokuma (KOLGA) followed suit in commissioning their secretariats with overwhelming support, and I thank Hon. Wisdom Fafi for formally decamping to the NDC.

“Today, the NDC formally received into its fold Hon. Selekebina Saboh, a former stalwart of the APC and erstwhile Chairman of Ekeremor Area Council in Bayelsa State. It was also a pleasure to see the entry of Hon. Wilson Ayakpo Dauyegha, popularly known as WAD, who defected from the APC to join the NDC. WAD was the APC senatorial candidate against me in the last election.

“I thank both of them, along with their teaming supporters of over 10,000, as well as the good people of Bayelsa, who defied the heavy rain to join Nigeria’s ideological party, the NDC.

“No state in Nigeria should be allowed to perpetuate state-capture for the benefit of a few individuals, their families, or friends, while the rest of the people wallow in hunger and anger in the midst of plenty. Likewise, our country must not be left in the hands of those who seek to personalise power. The NDC is determined to change this paradigm.

“As always, my politics remains one of ideas, mobilisation, and persuasion—not violence. I urge all our supporters to continue mobilisation in a peaceful and law-abiding manner, while encouraging all to register as members of the party. I also appreciate those who have registered massively online and are mobilising others to do the same across the country.

“I must thank the elders, the youths, the women and our teaming supporters, especially Elder Fyneman Wilson, Osusu Osusu, and Hon. Suru Oyarede, and several others, for leading the team effectively.

“I thank the state Chairman, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, and his Executives for starting well, and I also thank the National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, who led the party’s delegation to receive the defectors today.

“Thank you, Bayelsa. Thank you for standing with me. Thank you for standing with the NDC. In just four weeks of NDC, the paradigm in the entire country is changing. Thank you for the trust and confidence. With NDC, politics in Nigeria will never remain the same again.

“Say NO to a one-party state. Say NO to state capture!

“Don’t forget to register in the NDC, mobilise, and encourage credible candidates to defeat candidates of other parties. Those who think the federal government will send soldiers, police, DSS, and INEC to write fake results, intimidate, kill, and maim will be disappointed again. We shall defeat them squarely.
