Dickson’s Administration Termed As The Most Unfriendly & Wicked Administration To Civil Servants – APC Publicity Secretary
The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Comrade Preye Bagou has described the Restoration Government led by Henry Seriake Dickson as the worst in civil servants welfarism ever in the history of the State.
Bagou while addressing newsmen of hotnews in Yenagoa the state capital condemned in strong terms of the maltreatment that was imposed on civil servants at the local government and state level by the restoration government led by Henry Seriake Dickson.
Recall that there was maltreatment and poor welfare of civil servants in the state ranging from late payment of salaries and non-implementation of promotions for several years, which greatly affected the standard of living of civil servants in the state.
Bagou stated that there was series of protests organized by civil servants in demands for payment of salary arrears and implementation of promotions in the eight years administration of the restoration government led by Henry Seriake Dickson.
Hotnews gathered that promotions done for the past ten years had not been implemented in the salary of civil servants by the previous and current administration, deliberately impoverishing civil servants in the state, as a way of caging civil servants at the local government and state level.
The restoration government led by Henry Seriake Dickson carried out civil service reforms and several verification exercises that affected so many civil servants in the state civil service, which happens to be the only source of income and livelihood of most affected civil servants in the state.
Bagou further stated that salaries were not paid at when necessary due to the cruel mindset of Dickson towards the welfare of civil servants in the state, stressing that civil servants could barely feed themselves and families during the restoration government.
“Dickson’s administration is recorded as the most unfriendly and wicked administration towards the welfare of civil servants in the political history of the state since the practice of a democratic system of government” he said.
Dickson immediately assumption in office declared emergency on the educational sector towards restructuring the sector by building and renovating primary and secondary schools across the state, with provision of basic educational facilities.
However, Bayelsa was recognized as one of the top states in the Niger Delta region with the best educational sector first ever in the history of the state, due to the transformation and restructuring of the educational sector by Henry Seriake Dickson.
