Diri Urges Muslims To Strengthen Religious Harmony During Eid-El-Kabir

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha celebration, also known as Eid-el-Kabir.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, the governor described the festival as a significant period of spiritual reflection, sacrifice and devotion to God.

Governor Diri noted that Eid-el-Kabir commemorates the sacrifice and obedience exemplified by Prophet Mohammed, virtues he said remain essential for every true believer and citizen committed to the growth and progress of society.

The Bayelsa governor urged Muslims to continue to uphold the values of faith, sacrifice, love, tolerance and peaceful coexistence as taught by Islam.

He called on adherents of the Islamic faith to use the sacred occasion to pray fervently for peace, security and the overall wellbeing of Bayelsa State and Nigeria, stressing that the country needed unity and collective commitment to overcome its present socio-economic challenges.

Senator Diri also admonished Muslims to look beyond the festivities and continually imbibe the virtues of patriotism, selflessness, patience and sacrifice in their daily lives.

According to him, these moral values are necessary in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and fostering harmonious relationships among people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds.

The governor further stated that Nigeria was currently passing through a critical socio-economic phase that required prayers, resilience and patience from all citizens, expressing optimism that the nation would attain its desired greatness through unity and collective resolve.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace, promoting religious harmony and ensuring inclusive governance for all residents of Bayelsa State irrespective of tribe or religion.

“On behalf of the government of Bayelsa State, I wish our Muslim brothers Eid Mubarak,” the governor stated.

He concluded his message with the traditional greeting: “Barka da Sallah!”
