Diri Reaffirms Unwavering Commitment To Communities Security, Peace
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed profound gratitude to the people of the state for their continued support in sustaining peace and security across the state, urging communities and citizens to remain law-abiding in preserving the existing peaceful atmosphere in the State.
Hotnews reports that the governor made the remarks during the 44th State Security Council Meeting held at Government House in Yenagoa, where he commended residents for their peaceful disposition and cooperation with government, security agencies.
Governor Diri particularly applauded security commanders operating in the state for their collaboration with the administration in ensuring the safety of lives and property in the State.
According to him, the combined efforts of the government, security agencies, and the people have helped maintain stability in Bayelsa despite political activities and other challenges.
“I like to, as always, appreciate the people of Bayelsa State for their peaceful nature, and also for working with the government to ensure that our state is safe and secure,” the governor stated.
He noted that the recent primary elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC), conducted across the 105 wards of the state, were carried out peacefully without rancour, describing the development as a reflection of the maturity and unity of the people.
“We had all the primaries of the All Progressives Congress, and it went peacefully across the 105 wards in the state,” he said.
Governor Diri also used the opportunity to caution communities against acts capable of disrupting public peace, citing the recent situation in Ogboinbiri Community as a clear example of government’s resolve to enforce law and order.
While not elaborating on the specifics of the incident, the governor stressed that the actions taken by the government in response to developments in the community should serve as a deterrent to others contemplating acts that could threaten peace and security.
“We urge our communities to be law-abiding and peaceful. What has happened in Ogboinbiri and the actions government has taken should be a warning to other communities. As a government, we will continue to work with our communities to maintain the peace we are enjoying,” Governor Diri added.
The 44th State Security Council Meeting brought together heads of security agencies and top government officials to review the security situation in Bayelsa and strengthen strategies aimed at preserving peace and stability across the state.
Stakeholders commended the governor’s unwavering efforts on security reflecting on the administration’s commitment to proactive security management and community engagement as key pillars for sustainable development in Bayelsa state.
