Gov. Diri: Tinubu Deserves Bayelsans Full Support, Urges Grassroots Campaigns

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has observed that Nigeria’s political landscape is gradually moving away from violence and intimidation towards a more knowledge-driven electoral process.

Hotnews reports that Governor Diri stated this in Yenagoa while speaking at the State Working Committee Retreat of the City Boy Movement (CBM), where he commended the group for promoting peaceful and issue-based politics.

He urged the movement, which is campaigning for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, to work closely with the structures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and intensify its grassroots mobilisation beyond social media.

The Governor said his support for President Tinubu was influenced by the Federal Government’s interventions in Bayelsa, particularly the approval of the second phase of the Nembe-Brass Road project and waivers granted for the state’s imported gas turbines.

Governor Diri, who reiterated his advocacy for the restructuring of Nigeria, said justice, fairness and resource control remained essential to strengthening the country’s democracy.

He expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s capacity to advance the restructuring agenda and urged Nigerians to support his bid for a second term.

He declared that the APC’s chances of victory in Bayelsa in 2027 were strong, stressing that political success would require door-to-door engagement and effective grassroots mobilisation.

The Bayelsa State APC Chairman, Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba, thanked the Governor for his support to the party, adding that the party was focused on strategic mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Earlier, the Bayelsa Director of the City Boy Movement, High Chief Osomkime Blankson, said the retreat was organised to strategise for President Tinubu’s re-election.

Also, the movement’s Director-General, Mr. Francis Shoga, described the President as a courageous leader whose policies and achievements would be taken to the grassroots.
