Diri Lauds Oboku’s Bridge Project, Approves Link Road
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has commissioned a constituency bridge project executed by the member representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Oforji Oboku, at Opolo community in Yenagoa Local Government Area.
Hotnews reports that during the inauguration on Monday, Governor Diri also approved the construction of a road linking the community to Gloryland Drive, describing the bridge as a remarkable intervention that would boost connectivity.
He commended Hon. Oboku for undertaking what he described as a rare and capital-intensive project for a legislator, praising him for remembering his constituents.
The Governor further urged Opolo and its neighbouring communities to sustain peace, stressing that harmony among communities remains essential for development, assuring that the government would continue to support initiatives that promote progress.
Earlier, the Paramount Ruler of Opolo Kingdom, HRH Inia Nengibo, Ogbogbo XII, lauded the project as one that aligns with the Prosperity Administration’s urban renewal agenda and appealed for the construction of a 2.5-kilometre road linking the bridge to the New Yenagoa City.
Hon. Oforji Oboku said the bridge was conceived to connect island communities, improve security, ease movement and stimulate socio-economic activities, expressing gratitude to Governor Diri for his support.
Senator Konbowei Benson, representing Bayelsa Central, described the project as complementary to the state government’s infrastructure drive and urged the people of Opolo to continue partnering with the government for greater development.
