Our Growing Democracy Needs A Multi-Party System To Function – Sen. Dickson

Founder and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, had an interview with Seun Akinbaloye on Channels Television (Politics Today), where he addressed a number of issues concerning Nigeria’s political system.

Hotnews reports that Senator Dickson, who made the interview known through his official facebook handle, thanked Nigerians for their interest, support prayers, and commitment for the NDC.

Senator Dickson, who was a guest on the program, Politics Today, on Channels television, stated that Nigeria’s multi-party democracy must be supported and protected, adding that democracy can only function effectively under a multi-party system.

He called on all Nigerians who do not believe in one-party system in Nigeria, to join the NDC,as many has already done–as an alternative platform that stands for true federalism in service to the people of the Nigerian population.

The NDC national leader said the party is designed as a special platform to promote inclusiveness, particularly for women, and young people, to help build a better Nigeria that all will be proud of–a Nigeria that works for all.

He encouraged Nigerians to continue to register, and mobilize others to actively participate in the ongoing membership registration, to be part of a platform like the NDC that champions ideas, issues, and what is truly best for the nation.

Hotnews quote Dickson statement, and it read in parts: “Yesterday evening, I had an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels Television, where I addressed a number of issues concerning Nigeria’s political reality and the emergence of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). I thank Nigerians for their interest, support, and prayers.

“As I stated, Nigeria’s multiparty democracy must be protected and supported. I therefore call on all those who do not believe in the idea of a one-party Nigeria to join the NDC, as many are already doing. The party is committed to fostering a new political culture, one rooted in conviction and ideology.

“It is designed as a special platform to promote inclusiveness, particularly for women and young people, and to help build a Nigeria we can all be proud of—a Nigeria that works for everyone.

“I encourage all Nigerians to continue to register, mobilise others, and actively participate in the ongoing membership drive. Our country and the quality of its leadership will not improve unless we change our style of politics —by building and supporting a party like the NDC that champions ideas, issues, and what is truly best for the nation.
