Senator Dickson Commiserates With Families Of Slain Military Officers At Okuama Community
The Former Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has commiserated with the families of military officers of the Nigerian Army that were brutally killed at Okuama Community in Delta State.
The Former Governor and Senator made this known through his official facebook handle, expressed sadness over the unfortunate incident that led to the death of sixteen military officers of the Nigerian army who were on a peace-keeping mission at Okuama community specifically.
Senator Dickson during a plenary session on the floor of the Senate, described the unfortunate incident as a great national tragedy.
While urging all people of goodwill to join in condemning the dastardly act in very strong terms, Senator Dickson sympathized with the families of the slain military officers, and prayed to God to give the families the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
Senator Dickson while stressing the great need to safeguard innocent residents in the affected communities, emphasized the need for professionalism by the military in conducting its operations aimed at arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act according to the law.
While condemning the dastardly act in very strong terms, Senator Dickson stated that it’s important to note that no community in the Niger Delta is against the military and its personnel while discharging their professional duties in accordance with the law.
Senator Dickson further stated the importance for the various security agencies to go after the criminals and their sponsors, and bring them to book to serve as deterrent basically.
The statement reads: “on the floor of the Senate, I commiserated on behalf of our great and peace loving people with the Nigerian Military, the families and the country at large over the brutal killing of Officers and Men of the Nigerian Army who were on a Peace Mission at Okuama Community, Delta State. As I said, it is indeed a great national tragedy.
“I urge all people of goodwill to join in condemning in very strong term this dastardly act and also mourn with the families of the slain officers and soldiers.
“I emphasized the need for professionalism by the military in conducting its operations aimed at arresting the perpetrators. This is based on the need to safeguard innocent residents in the affected communities.
“It is also important to note that no community in the Niger Delta is against the military and their personnel.
Hoodlums and miscreants terrorising communities often brutalize, maim, rape and kill their own people for several reasons, same way they kill security agents alike.
“It is therefore pertinent for the various security agencies to go after the criminals and their sponsors and bring them to book to serve as deterrent.
