2023 Bayelsa Gubernatorial Race: Group Abandons Diri, Drum Support For Alaibe, As Preferred PDP Gubernatorial Aspirant

A prestigious organization under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Bayelsa State has drummed their massive support for the Former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Timi Alaibe, as the most preferred Governorship Aspirant of the Party in the 2023 Bayelsa Gubernatorial election.

The group described the former managing director, Chief Timi Alaibe as the most qualified and preferred candidate with the requisite knowledge, ideas and experience in leadership and governance to flag the PDP governorship ticket in the forthcoming 2023 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State.

In a statement by the group spokesman, Chief Allen Christopher stated that the performance of the seating Governor, Douye Diri under the platform of the PDP has shown incompetence and incapability in managing the affairs of the party in the state, which are too obvious facts even to the blind man.

Chief Christopher stated that the resignations and defections of critical stakeholders of the PDP in Bayelsa State, was as a result of the inability of the seating governor under the party platform to timely and proactively manage internal party issues resulted from the PDP primaries in the State.

“Alaibe has overtime shown capacity and competence in delivering quality leadership and effective representation while handling public offices in service to the good people of Ijaw nation and the country at large, which is quite impressive and highly commendable” he said.

Christopher stated that there is no doubt that the former managing director will perform excellently far better than the seating governor in delivering good governance to the citizens, considering the laudable achievements of the former managing director while in the NDDC.

“The Governor Douye Diri led Bayelsa State Government can be best described as a big mess and total waste of years of governance in the state, considering the poor performance of the governor in infrastructure, human capital development and other socio-economic variables for the past three years of governance” he said.

Christopher stated that the governor had been receiving the highest monthly faac allocations from the federation account ever in the history of the state, yet there is no commiserate good infrastructure, human capital development, and other socio-economic variables geared towards improving the welfare of the populace.

“Bayelsa was first in history recorded as the second multi-dimensional poorest state in the country, as a result of the collapse of major sectors of the state’s economy under the leadership of Governor Douye Diri for the past three years of governance” he said.

Christopher stated that Alaibe is the best governorship aspirant under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party with the requisite knowledge and experience that will right the wrongs of the current administration, and bring the needed economic growth and development to the state.

He added by urging members of the People’s Democratic Party in Bayelsa State to give Chief Timi Alaibe the necessary support to ensure that he gets the party’s governorship ticket in the forthcoming PDP governorship primary election, slated to hold between 15th of January to 27th of April, 2023.
