Bayelsans cries out, the hunger in the land is alarming.

…Says prosperity for wives, brothers, relatives and friends, while austerity for the masses.

A top social media influencer and journalist, Onitsha Scent, has cried out, describing the level of poverty and depravity in Bayelsa state especially during this Yuletide season, as one of the worst ever in the history of the State.

Onitsha who made this statement on his Facebook page, insisted that the post was not politically motivated but rather a bitter pill that everyone in the state is forced to chew, the severity way beyond what mare palliatives by the government could quench.

In his words, ‘Bayelsans are really suffering while the governor and his relatives alone live large.
It is a classic case of prosperity for the governor, his wife, immediate family and austerity for Bayelsans.

The office of the governor which ought to be responsible for every Bayelsan, has under our noses, become a Diri family enterprise. This is unfortunate.’

‘When Chief Timipre Sylva was Governor, the Yuletide was celebrated by both great and small, rich or poor. What sin therefore did Bayelsans commit against the Gov Douye Diri led PDP government for this untold hardship on the citizens.

During the 2019 election, the reason most including PDP faithfuls rooted for HE David Lyon was because those who knew Diri, expressed concerns about his ungenerous and close-fisted nature and the fact that he had the tendency to impoverish all as soon as he assumed the office.

He was practically given the label ‘stingy man’ and described as a million times incomparable with his predecessor whose preferred economic style was that everyone had something no matter how little but no one had too much.

Although we all frowned at this in retrospect, the consolation remained the fact that at the end of the day, basic needs were met but the exact opposite is what the Diri led government represents.

Diri has confirmed that the ‘Mr. Stingy’ phrase used to describe his person in 2019 was in no way a fluke or propaganda. For indeed, he’s a stingy and heartless man who evidently delights in the suffering of his people.
