Dickson Presents Environmental Report To Environment Minister

Former Governor of Bayelsa State and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson has presented the Bayelsa Environmental Report to the Minister of Environment, Alhaji Balarabe Abbas Lawal at COP 29.

The former governor and senator made this known through his official facebook handle, described the honorable minister’s commitment and readiness to follow up on the recommendations made in the report as a step in the right direction.

Senator Dickson who had bilateral meetings with the Environment Minister earlier the day, asked Alhaji Abbas and others to accompany him to attend the Bayelsa State Program at the Nigerian Pavilion where they met the Bayelsa State delegation.

The Bayelsa State Program which took place at COP 29 in Barku, Azerbaijan, was represented by a delegation of commissioners and other top government appointees led by Ambassador Boladei Igali.

Senator Dickson in company of the Bayelsa state delegation, presented a copy of the environmental report to the minister of environment for follow-up and implementation of the recommendations by the polluters in the affected rural communities.

The statement read in parts: “Yesterday, I had bilateral meetings with Alhaji Balarabe Abbas Lawal, Hon. Minister of Environment, and asked him to accompany me to the Bayelsa State program at the Nigerian pavilion.

“In company of the honorable minister, I attended the program where we met the Bayelsa delegation comprising of commissioners and other government appointees led by Ambassador Igali.

“A copy of the environmental report I commissioned was presented to the minister, which he received and made a commitment to follow up on the recommendations made.

“The recommendations which includes, clean-up of the affected communities by the polluters as well as supporting our efforts of repositioning our rural communities and our state for a smooth economic transition beyond oil and gas.
