Dickson Receives Diri, Presents Certificate Of Return Issued By INEC On Re-Election As Governor Of Bayelsa State

The Immediate Past Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, yesterday evening received the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri at his Abuja residence.

Governor Douye Diri paid a courtesy visit to his predecessor, Senator Dickson to present his certificate of return issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for his re-election in the concluded governorship election as the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State.

The former governor and federal lawmaker made this known through his official facebook handle, stated that the governor usually visits him whenever the governor is in Abuja for official functions and otherwise.

The former governor stated how his successor insisted on presenting the certificate of return to him personally, despite the fact that he tried to discourage his successor from doing so, but the governor refused because of the respect and value he has for him.

Senator Dickson called on the people of Bayelsa state and the Ijaw nation to continue to support and pray for Governor Diri to enable him succeed by consolidating on the development, stability and prosperity of the state.

The statement reads: “This evening, His Excellency, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri visited me as he usually does when he is in Abuja and to also use the opportunity to present his certificate of return issued by INEC on his recent victory at the Gubernatorial poll.

“I had called to congratulate him and wish him well earlier but he insisted on presenting it to me even though I tried to discourage him from doing so.

“I congratulated him again and thanked him for the honour.

“I call on the people of Bayelsa State and the entire Ijaw nation to support and pray for his success to enable him consolidate on the development, stability and prosperity of the state.
