Ex-Aide Commends Gov. Diri’s Performance On Security, Sports

Security is crucial in any state for several reasons, as it forms the foundation for stability, prosperity, and the well-being of its citizenry. In the forgoing, the Prosperity Government led by a former classroom teacher, foremost administrator and an embodiment of peace, unity and hope, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the security architecture by exemplifying that truly, security is a paramount responsibility of government.

In recognizing its importance, since assumption in office on the 14th of February, 2020, the prosperity champion and his team of competent administrators has made significant strides in his governance policies through the establishment of a community based security network, the Community Safety Corps with provision of equipments for its operations. This outfit is led by a retired personnel of the Nigeria Army, and son of the soil in complementing the effort of the conventional security in the state.

In furtherance to his bid in prioritizing security, the Bayelsa helmsman has also invested heavily in the sustainability of other existing outfits such as the Operation Doo-Akpo, Bayelsa State Volunteers, Vigilante Services and Waterways Security, all operational within the state in combating criminality, kidnapping, crime, cultism, illicit drug, and other social vices that are now reduced to the nearest minimum.

The aforementioned security formations and the government of prosperity have received commendations from the larger society over the years, due to the relentless services, huge investments and selfless contributions in sustaining the existing peace in the homogeneous Ijaw state.

The security of every society is threatened by the rate of unemployment of the teeming youths, which in Nigeria, the youths account for a larger percentage of the country’s population. The UNDP opine that the young people can contribute to the peace building, reconciliation and recovery when they have opportunities to be economically self-reliant.

In view of the above, Senator Douye Diri affectionately called the People’s Governor, has implemented the provisions of economic opportunities to improve the standard of living of youths in Bayelsa State, through its numerous free skill acquisition programmes organized for interested participants in batches with encouraging testimonies from beneficiaries in his first term in office. And this has contributed immensely to the peace and stability of the state.

Similarly, the erstwhile sports commissioner and now the “Peoples Governor,” Senator Douye Diri drive for unity has also demonstrated so much passion to sports development in the state in recognition of its potential in empowering the teeming youths promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence amongst the citizenry through sports.

Among other notable efforts of the present administration in this sector, was the relaunching and sustenance of the previously called Restoration Cup to now the Bayelsa Governor’s Cup also known as the Prosperity Cup with several communities participating yearly towards encouraging social cohesion and unity.

Conclusively, the Jerusalem of Ijaw Nation and Glory of all Land is ranked as one of the most peaceful and safest States in Nigeria according to recent statistics, and in the face of this success story, the governor has continued to ensure the state remains the safest in the country, so as to attract foreign investments.
