…describe the Governor’s statements as an insult to well-meaning Bayelsans.

An Elder Statesman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Chief Inemotimi Douye has expressed total shock and disappointment on Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State over falsehood claims of cost of projects in the State compared to other States while giving account for the expenditure of 13% oil derivation funds received since assumption in office.

Recall that Governor Douye Diri in a live broadcast with national television stations stated that one-kilometer road built in Yenagoa is more than three to four-kilometer roads built elsewhere, adding that a capital project in Bayelsa is more three to four flyovers built together, while giving account for the expenditure of 13% oil derivation funds in the State.

Chief Inemotimi while addressing some newsmen in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State capital, described the Governor Douye Diri’s statement as a total insult to the people of Bayelsa State and the Niger Delta region at large, stressing that the governor is totally clueless about governing the State.

“It is very shameful that Douye Diri will open his mouth in a live broadcast to say that one-kilometer road built in Yenagoa is more than three to four-kilometer road built elsewhere, and a capital project in Bayelsa is more than three to four flyovers built elsewhere.

“The prosperity administration led by Douye Diri in spite of an unprecedented government, it has been a government of excuses since assumption in office despite the constant monthly increase in faac allocations, monthly 13% oil derivation funds, last phase of bailout funds, internal generated revenue, loans etc.

“The prosperity administration would have been a total mess ever in the history of the state without projects of previous administrations which were commissioned in celebration of the one and two years administration are legacy developmental projects of the previous administration the restoration government led by Henry Seriake Dickson.

Chief Inemotimi stated that Governor Douye Diri’s unpreparedness for governance and poor leadership style has put the people of Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area in great shame, stressing that this is a rare opportunity that should have been properly managed and utilized by giving the Local Government Area a good record with the execution of legacy developmental projects in the State.

Chief Inemotimi Douye narrated how excited he was when he received the news of the Supreme Court ruling that led to the emergence of Governor Douye Diri, adding that the people of Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area were in great joy to have such rare opportunity first in the history of the State, but Governor Douye Diri’s poor style of governance has put the people in shame.

“It is very shameful and disheartening to know that Governor Douye Diri has not attracted a single legacy developmental project to the people of Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area, stressing that the Igbedi road project was done to please the family of his wife.

Chief Inemotimi further stated that Douye Diri’s defense for the expenditure of 13% oil derivation funds including arrears received from the federation account has once again shown that the governor is taking well-meaning Bayelsans for granted considering the monies received without commensurate infrastructure in the State.

“His counterpart Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State used the same funds to construct ten flyovers which has been successfully commissioned for public use, and more flyovers to be constructed and commissioned before leaving office in 2023, yet Governor Douye Diri end up making unnecessary excuses for lack of infrastructure in the State.

Chief Inemotimi further stated that Governor Douye Diri has failed well-meaning Bayelsans and Nigerians at large, adding that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), and other Federal agencies should without delay arrest and prosecute the Governor for mismanagement and misappropriation of public funds.
