The Presidential Amnesty Vendors’ Association has commended President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) for the appointment of Maj-General Barry Tariye Ndiomu (Rtd), as Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

The group described General Ndiomu as a proud illustrious son of the Niger Delta region, specifically from Sagbama Local Government Area in Bayelsa State, with an impeccable track record of laudable achievements with the requisite knowledge to handle the office effectively as an experienced military general.

In a letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, dated October 12, 2022, with the caption “Commendation on the appointment of Maj-General Barry Tariye Ndiomu, as Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme”, signed by the Chairman, Pastor Sampson Dabbey Graham and his Secretary, Engr. Eferebo I. Sylvanus.

Pastor Samson and Engr. Sylvanus on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Executives, and Members, expressed profound gratitude to Mr. President for the studied steps he has made so far since the inception of his administration to clean up federal government agencies and parastatals directly under the preview of the presidency.

“Our association is aware of the healthy attention paid to regional agencies via budgetary approvals targeted at improving the lives of our people and, by extension, closing the developmental gap suffered by the people of the region in the past decades in oil and gas exploration and exploitation.

“Your Excellency, we specifically wish to put on record that the comprehensive audit that your office boldly handled restructuring the NDDC and the Presidential Amnesty Programme has helped to stem the tide of corrupt practices in these two critical federal agencies which contributes greatly to the nation’s economy.

The Niger Delta Development Commission and Presidential Amnesty Programme are saddled with the onerous task of helping to build the youths of the Niger Delta region and cutting down the spate of insecurity in the region for years, which greatly affected even the quantum of oil exportation and the nation’s gross earnings with the capacity of government to meet its obligatory responsibilities.

“It is in light of this, and in furtherance of the tremendous efforts of your administration in strengthening these two critical federal agencies that our association wholeheartedly commends you for taking the right step in appointing a proud son of the Niger Delta, Maj-General Barry Tariye Ndiomu, as interim administrator of the amnesty programme, who has distinguished himself in service to the nation over the years.

“Your Excellency, may God Almighty continue to bless and give you the requisite knowledge and wisdom to continue to pilot the affairs of the nation to a successful handover in May, 2023.
