The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has held its maiden National Executive Committee (NEC) to formally ratify the positions of Senator Moses Cleopas and Barr. Ikenna Alex-Morgan as National Chairman and National Secretary, and other national officers.

Hotnews gathered that the NDC maiden NEC meeting was held on Wednesday, 25th March, 2026, at the party national secretariat in Abuja.

Senator Dickson, who is the national leader of the NDC, made this known through his official facebook handle, welcomed, and thanked all members, as well as Nigerians across the nation, for believing in the vision of the NDC, to register en masse within this period.

He used the medium to charge all party officers, particularly the national vice chairman, and state chairmen to intensify mobilization, sensitization, and membership registration ahead of the closing deadline by INEC guideline.

Hotnews quote Dickson statement, and it read in parts: “At today’s historic maiden National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting of the NDC, the first since its registration about a month ago, we had almost all NEC members in attendance, representing all states of the Federation and reflecting the diversity of Nigeria across ethnic and religious divides.

“I welcomed and thanked all members, as well as Nigerians across the country, for believing in the vision of the NDC and for registering en masse within such a short period. I charged all party officers, particularly the National Vice Chairman and State Chairmen, to intensify mobilisation, sensitisation, and membership registration ahead of the closing deadline.

“At this inaugural meeting, the NEC formally ratified the positions of Senator Moses Cleopas and Barr. Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu as National Chairman and National Secretary respectively. It also ratified all other NEC officers in a pro-tem capacity, pending the conduct of congresses.

“Furthermore, the NEC authorised the Working Committee to release a comprehensive timetable for the conduct of congresses at all levels, as well as the National Convention for the election of substantive office holders. The Committee is also to prepare a timetable for party primaries and the selection of candidates for the 2027 general elections.

“In recognition of the critical importance of inclusion, today’s historic NEC also passed a resolution adopting affirmative action to promote the participation of women, youths, and vulnerable groups in leadership and governance. I have directed State Chairmen to ensure strict compliance, and for the NEC to monitor implementation.

“I also called on NEC members to make the necessary sacrifices required to build a strong and enduring political movement. I extended an open invitation to Nigerians across all political parties, particularly those who are stranded in various parties as a result of party crises, to join the NDC as a credible and reliable platform for national transformation.

“I particularly thanked Nigerian youths for their enthusiastic support and active engagement with the NDC. I was proud to introduce many young Nigerians from across the country who have embraced the NDC and taken ownership of its vision.

“We will continue to do our very best, as we have always done, in service to the Nigerian people.
