PDP Crisis: How Okowa Sabotaged Southern Region.
By Bitrus Pogu
The President of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Dr. Bitrus Pogu has accused Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa of betraying the Southern Region for his own “selfish interest.”
Pogu, during an interview with Arise TV, alleged that Okowa worked against the South during the PDP presidential primary election which produced Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.
He blamed Okowa for playing a major part in the crisis rocking the PDP, adding that the governor ensured that his delegates cast their votes for a Northern candidate.
Recall that Southern Governors had a meeting in Delta State, the government house of the current PDP Vice Presidential candidate and a communique was read.
“In the presentation of the communique, he read and said that the Southern Governors, irrespective of political parties that the presidency should come to the south, stressing that all governors should not accept to be running mate to any Northern presidential candidate.
But, Gov. Okowa went against the communique and became a running mate to a Northern presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, betraying the unanimous agreement by all Southern governors.
Okowa is a betrayal to the people of the South irrespective of political party, and he should be treated as a betrayer in the 2023 presidential election, by rejecting his candidacy and the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the ballot.
