Obi Not A Threat To President Tinubu’s Victory In 2027 – Dare

The Presidency has dismissed claims that the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, poses a political threat to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections in January, 2027.

Hotnews gathered that speaking during an interview on the Mic On Podcast over the weekend, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Dr. Sunday Dare, said the Tinubu administration was focused on delivering its campaign promises rather than worrying about political opponents.

According to Dr. Dare, the government’s policies and achievements have strengthened its position, insisting that Obi is no longer a significant challenge to the administration.

He maintained that the government has taken bold decisions to address the country’s challenges and now has a track record of performance to present to Nigerians.

Dr. Dare also criticized Obi’s public engagements, describing some of his comments and interviews as unconvincing and lacking clarity.

Reacting to Obi’s victory over Tinubu in Lagos State during the 2023 presidential election, Dr. Dare argued that the political landscape has changed, expressing confidence that the former Labour Party candidate would not be able to repeat the feat in the 2027 election.

He concluded that the Tinubu administration remains committed to governance and believes its performance will earn the support of Nigerians when the country returns to the polls.
