Former Governor of Bayelsa State and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, yesterday, joined other well-meaning Nigerians to bid farewell to Late DIG Moses Jitoboh at Trofani Community in Sagbama LGA, Bayelsa State.

The former Governor made this known through his official facebook handle, described the deceased as a younger brother and colleague while recounting the history of their long-term, mutually cherished relationship for over thirty years, from the days in the Police Academy.

Senator Dickson recounting their long-term mutually cherished relationship for over three decades, said he use to call the departed, DIG Moses Jitoboh as Moszila, which he calls him Baba-Dicko, adding that it’s unfortunate that he has died.

He acknowledged and appreciated former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for appointing late DIG Moses Jitoboh as his ADC when he became Vice President to Late President Musa Yar’Adua, and Acting President upon the death of Yar’Adua.

Senator Dickson stressed the great need for people to use whatever opportunity they have to plant people in different ramifications for the future, and stop the attitude of the pulling down syndrome basically.

The statement read in parts: “Yesterday, it was with a heavy heart that I attended and spoke at the commendation service of my late colleague and younger brother, DIG Moses Ambakina Jitoboh (MNI), who died suddenly in December 2024 and was laid to rest yesterday.

“In my remarks, I gave the history of our long and mutually-cherished relationship spanning over 30 years from our days in the Police Academy. Since then, he has been my younger brother, and I fondly called him Moszilla, and he would always call me Baba-Dicko. It is unfortunate that he died.

“In my remarks, I thanked Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha of blessed memory who discovered him as his Aide-de-Camp (ADC), and when his tenure suddenly ended, his Deputy, who was then our Governor, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who later became Vice President and President, took over.

“I described it as the Biblical case of ‘Paul planted and Apollos watered.’ President Jonathan appointed him as his ADC when he became Vice President to Yar’Adua, and when he became President upon the death of Yar’Adua, he created a staff office appointment in the Villa — the very first of its kind, and I know and was part of those circumstances.

“By that appointment, President Jonathan gave him an opportunity into the highest and topmost hierarchy of Police Management, and Moses had everything going for him in the Nigeria Police, and that was how he had accelerated progression in his career, even to the envy of many.

“I told the people that we should all use whatever opportunity we have to plant people, and also used the opportunity to call on our people to stop the pulling down syndrome for the young and old, and instead, focus on planting.

“In this case, and in some other cases, people planted and nurtured Jitoboh, and he rose to the rank of DIG and almost became I.G. If Nigeria was a better and fairer country, we would have celebrated Moses Jitoboh as an Inspector General of Police, and probably this funeral would have been different.

“I also thanked the State Government and the Governor, and I thanked our former President Goodluck Jonathan for personally attending and Mrs Alamieyeseigha who was like a mother to Moses too, and I thanked the wife for her strength and the character she has shown, and the entire family.

“On behalf of my family, our Local Government and the Senatorial District, I condoled with the family, the Police, the I.G, the State Government and the country for the death of such a gentleman and officer.

“I told the audience how Moses, all through his assignments and service to all his bosses, to the Police and to Nigeria, served loyally.

“I didn’t go into details for obvious reasons. It is his loyal service that I’m privy to. He did his best. We hoped the best for him, but this is the way it has ended.

“I called for all to take solace, and that God gives and takes. We all pray for strength for the family, especially the wife and the children, his aged mother, the community, the Police, the state, and all of us in this country.

“Moses was my younger brother, and I assured the wife that even though he’s no more there, she is still our wife, and she will have us as fathers to the children.

“I also assured her people, the people of Igala in Kogi state and her family, that she is in good hands and she always will be. I prayed for God to grant the soul of Moszilla eternal rest. Amen.
