Sylva & Diri Battle For Wike’s Support For November 11th Bayelsa Guber Election

The former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has been perceived as the deciding political figure in Bayelsa State politics, as political party governorship candidates seek and lobby for his support towards the November 11th gubernatorial election.

Wike is worshipped as a political godfather in the Nigerian politics in recent time, since after the concluded presidential election that birth in the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu.

Recall that the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva ignored President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration and attended the inauguration of Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State.

A reliable source revealed that Sylva’s motive of attending the governor’s inauguration was to build stronger working relationship with the outgoing governor, Nyesom Wike to solicit for his support for the Bayelsa November 11th gubernatorial election.

Recall also that the Governor of Bayelsa State and the Governorship Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Douye Diri met with the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike in the federal capital territory, Abuja during last weekend.

A reliable source revealed that Diri pleaded with the former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori to invite the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike to settle their individual differences, and to solicit support for the Bayelsa November 11th gubernatorial election.

Recall that Diri and Wike had not being in good terms since after the PDP presidential primaries that led to the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party presidential candidate. Wike felt betrayed and aggrieved with the outcome of the PDP presidential primaries.

The former Rivers State Governor has become the deciding factor of the outcome of the November 11th Bayelsa gubernatorial election, considering the body language of governorship candidates lobbying for his support in the election.
